Mixed Ensemble Works by Paul Salerni and Poetry by Dana Gioia

The Ballad of Jesús Ortíz 12'
string quartet and baritone.

Poem by Dana Gioia that recounts the life and death of his grandfather, a Mexican cowboy who met his tragic end in a bar in Wyoming. The work is cast in a cowboy ballad style, and the setting reflects this choice musically.

Haunted 35' 
string quartet, percussion, 1 baritone, 3 dancers, 1 bartender (mute role), light cues, and projected images.

Narrative poem by Dana Gioia depicts a love triangle between the protagonist, the fetching heiress Mara, and a ghost. It is set in a mansion in the Berkshires, and is written in six scenes.

Bandini-Chiacchiaretta Duo with the Dalí Quartet

The Dalí Quartet and Decca recording guitar and bandoneón duo the Bandini-Chiacchiaretta Duo offer concert programs that are a Latin American tour de force.

The sextet will present mixed programming for quartet, bandoneón, and guitar. Giampaolo Bandini, guitar and Cesare Chiacchiaretta, accordion & bandoneón, will join the Dalí for programs that include Piazzolla's and Vivaldi's "Eight Seasons", and a "Folias de Tango" program of works by Gardel, Molinelli, Piazzolla, Iannarelli, Brouwer, Pujol, and Paquito D'Rivera.
