Active
chamber musician and recitalist from Caracas, Venezuela, Daniel
Pereira is a member of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, serves
as the principal cellist for the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber
Orchestra, and is a former member of the Arkansas Symphony
Orchestra and the Sturgis String Quartet. Mr. Pereira has been
principal cellist with the National Repertory Orchestra, the
University of Southern California and the University of Wisconsin-Madison
Symphony Orchestras. Daniel has soloed with the National Repertory
Orchestra, Emil Friedman Philharmonia and the Arcos de Caracas.
Mr. Pereira has participated in several music festivals including
SummerFest La Jolla in California, Orford Arts Center Music
Festival in Quebec, Canada and Musicorda in Massachusetts.
Mr. Pereira has received several awards, including the Gordon
P. Getty Foundation Music Scholarship, Patricia A. Cheney Award,
and the Dale Gilbert Music Scholarship. His teachers and mentors
include Uri Vardi, Janos Starker, Hans Jorgen Jensen, and Kevin
Fitzgerald. Daniel received a Master of Music Degree from the
University of Southern California under the guidance of Ronald
Leonard.
